We picked up our first car here in Belgium. A 2002 BWM 520d. This is the most Jalop car ever.

Kinja'd!!!

BMW E39 chassis; a wagon (or "touring" as they're called around here.) 2.0L turbocharged I4 Diesel engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Diesel.

Wagon.

Manual.

Engine in front, drive wheels in back.

German.

Has funky self-leveling pneumatic suspension in the rear.

That's about as Jalop as it gets.

It's not my old M5, but it will do.

Kinja'd!!!

With the rain, I've never been able to get a good photo of the car itself. Maybe tomorrow.

Not brown. Unacceptable. Try again.

If it was brown, you would be correct. Everything else is perfect, though!

We took a car like this, except black with brown leather interior fully loaded, on a couple of road trips before my buddy's father sold it on. It's nice for cruising, but even with a remap, slow as molasses. Dynamic-wise, eh, alright, though we managed to understeer it when driving with gusto. Overall, I found it nice. Comfy too. :)

If you wanna calculate your Jalop points, we had a handy chart back in the day: bit.ly/jalop-points

I get to drive some of the most Jalop vehicles ever everyday..their almost toooo Jalop for me though, my 88' Yota pickup and 65' Beetle are Jalop enough for me..large diesel rwd brown manual "wagons" are less fun when they're your office, and your office was stuffed full in not so much order by someone stuffing it and 1-3 other big brown vehicles with box's at once... that you have to organize and get off within 12 hours....What I've just explained is the life of a UPS driver

Ah, excellent. It's fast enough for getting around all the Citroen C2s and Renault Clios here. I did put in a tuning request to a local facility for a remap but I haven't heard back. My co-worker used them for his 120d so they come recommended. I'm sure it could use some injector cleaner and I need to go through and check the air filters. I could also use some shocks/struts. I wonder how hard it would be to remove the self-leveling system and replace it with ST coil-overs (or similar) on all four corners for M5-style handling.

Excellent! Also, I have 140 points, I think.

OK, I just went back through the points. I'm at 140. One thing, though, you're neglecting Audi 20v 5-cylinder power plants. Those should be mega-points.

Heh, don't take it too seriously, it's just some people's opinion from a while ago. I had no part in creating the document, aside from preserving it.

I do recommend you look into the remap, though under heavy acceleration, you might be rolling a bit of coal. ;) Do a full service first to weed out any problems the car might already have.

No idea about the rear suspension, but watch out for any Clio RSes running rings around you. :D You're from the USA, I gather?

Yes, I'm an American in Belgium for at least the next four years :)

Sweet, if my roadtrips ever take me that far up north again, we can have a mini Oppo meetup with Duurtlang and My citroen won't start . At least I think they're Belgium based. :)

Alternatively, if you ever come down to the Adriatic for rest and relaxation, hit me up.

Swap in S62 and M5 suspension. Keep current badges.

I would, but the annual inspections in Belgium would nix that idea.
